“Empowerment: A Summit to Positively Impact Nursing Practice”

Healthcare is changing and nurses in NYS are needed to lead a change that will make an impact on the care they provide, while maintaining and/or improving quality patient care. However, nurses may not have some of the knowledge needed to do this. This program provides NYSNA RNs with insight into ways they can positively impact nursing practice.

Objectives

  1. Identify the impact that changes in nursing leadership structure can have to enhance nurses’ role at the bedside.
  2. Illustrate ways that state and federal laws and regulations impact the profession of nursing.
  3. Debate how nurses from rural and urban environments and private and public settings, from across NYS will become empowered in a unified voice on matters related to nursing practice.
  4. Create a plan that fosters the practice of nursing to be instrumental as an innovative leader in a changing healthcare environment.
  5. Summarize the opportunities available for nurses to increase their impact on evidence-based nursing practice.
