More than 200 people packed the meeting of Bronx Community Board #10 Thursday night. Our mission: to save Westchester Square Hospital.
“This hospital still has a heart beat,” said Colleen Molloy, RN in ambulatory care. “We can keep it open!”
Montefiore Medical Center has put in a bid to buy the hospital. “Montefiore has said they will turn our hospital into an urgent care facility,” said Jeannette Torres, RN. “Then they told the Daily News they will keep a full-service Emergency Room.”
“Those are two very different things. Our community deserves to know what their plans are for our hospital.”
RN Clare Hughes called on community supporters to call Montefiore CEO, and demand they keep the hospital open.
Hughes said, “I had a lady who came in the other day. She was in tears. She said ‘I heard you’re not going to make it.’ I held her hand and comforted her. I told her we might pull through. But we need your help.”
Call Montefiore CEO Steve Safyer at 718.920.2001. Tell him: Care for the Bronx… Save Westchester Square Hospital.
