A plan before the NY State Department of Health would shut down Interfaith and sell it off for parts. Many of the vital services now offered at Interfaith would be lost or severely reduced.
Psychiatric patients and their families would be some of the worst affected. One in 25 of all NYC psychiatric beds are at Interfaith. Every single one of Interfaith’s 90 psychiatric beds is occupied by a patient right now. The current plan before the Department of Health would only preserve little more than half those beds at best – and they would be moved to other neighborhoods.
Call New York State Health Commissioner Nirav Shah at 518.474.2011 and tell him: “Do not support the closure or major cuts to patient care services at Interfaith. Work with us to keep it open for the community.”
After you make the call, keep your phone out and text “Brooklyn” to 877-877. We will send you urgent updates about actions we are planning for this week to keep Interfaith open.
