Stand in Solidarity – Workers on strike against Verizon

More than 45,000 members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) went on strike against Verizon Communications on August 7. According to the unions, a core issue is the company’s refusal to bargain in good faith with the company continuing to insist on nearly 100 concessions.

“Their issues are our issues: pension, benefits, wages,” said Lucille Sollazzo, associate director with NYSNA’s Economic and General Welfare program, who stood with the striking workers on two picket lines in Rockland County on Wednesday. “Working people’s issues.”
