Join NYSNA on Tuesday, Dec. 20, in speaking out against the abusive corporate practices of Cerberus/Steward, a colossal Wall Street hedge fund that’s gobbling up healthcare facilities and putting profits before patient care.
The protest will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, in front of Cerberus Capital Management, at 299 Park Ave. (between 48th and 49th Streets), in Manhattan.
We’ve already seen the effects of the One-Percenters on our hospitals. Millionaire executives of private hospitals are fighting our nurses tooth-and-nail as they attempt to strip health benefits from our contracts and make safe staffing a thing of the past. Public health services continue to be threatened by privatization. As the people's hospitals need more resources, private investors want to come in and take services away.
Cerebus Capital Management has opened the door by buying health facilities in Massachusetts and moving swiftly to swing their corporate axe:
Join NYSNA and our colleagues from the Massachusetts Nurses Association and National Nurses United in fighting to stop Cerebus and firms like them before they move into our state and threaten our patients.
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 37,000 members, it is New York’s largest professional association and union for registered nurses. The association represents registered nurses, and some all-professional bargaining units, in New York and New Jersey. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
