SCHENECTADY, Dec. 19, 2008 - The New York State Nurses Association continues to prove that it’s the voice of nursing. Thursday night, registered nurses at Ellis Hospital’s McClellan Campus elected the Nurses Association to be their collective bargaining representative.
The nurses sought union representation because of their desire to have a voice in the decisions that affect their own practice and their ability to care for their patients. They now join the Ellis Hospital Nott Street campus nurses already represented by NYSNA.
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 36,000 members, it is the state's largest union and professional association for registered nurses. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
