Montefiore Medical Center RNs to hold protest on Dec. 15

BRONX, Dec. 8, 2009 – Registered nurses employed at Montefiore Medical Center will conduct an informational picket on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in relation to their current contract negotiations.

Picketing will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. in two locations:

At the Moses Division on the South side of East Gunhill Road between Bainbridge Avenue and DeKalb in front of the Foreman Pavilion.
And at the Weiler Division on the north side of Sackett Avenue from the corner of Eastchester Road to Hering Avenue.

The 2,400 RNs are represented by the New York State Nurses Association. The RNs’ most recent four-year contract expired on Jan 15, 2009. Negotiations have been underway since Oct., 2008. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 37,000 members, it is the state's largest union and professional association for registered nurses. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
