LATHAM, November 17, 2010 - New York State Nurses Association President Karen A. Ballard, MA, RN, FAAN, has been appointed to Governor-elect Cuomo’s Committee on Health and Education, a transition team that will recommend top-level advisors to guide the state’s healthcare initiatives.
The Nurses Association represents the interests of more than 275,000 registered nurses around the state and serves as the collective bargaining agent for more than 37,000 RNs at 150 healthcare facilities.
“As the state’s largest professional association for nurses, we appreciate the opportunity to provide input regarding patient care in New York state,” said Nurses Association President Karen Ballard. “Nurses represent an important constituency in the fight for healthcare reform. We look forward to working with the incoming administration to further goals that include quality, affordable healthcare for everyone.”
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 37,000 members, it is the state's largest professional association and largest union for registered nurses. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
