Bankruptcy proceedings for Interfaith Medical Center have been postponed to next Wednesday, November 13, at the earliest.

This postponement gives patient advocates, community leaders, and caregivers more time to continue work with our elected officials, including our next mayor, on viable funding solutions to keep Interfaith open as a full-service community hospital.

Interfaith Medical Center is a vital safety-net hospital and serves more than 175,000 New Yorkers in Central Brooklyn. The Department of Health must ensure that a full array of services which meet community needs remains available at Interfaith. We are working towards a real assessment of community needs for the Interfaith communities.

A coalition of Interfaith supporters will meet with the Department of Health later this week.
