NFN National Federation Assembly election to be re-run

First round of voting invalidated due to balloting error

NYSNA members who are represented for collective bargaining recently received a ballot for the 2010-2011 National Federation of Nurses election that may have had incorrect voting instructions. Because of the error, the election is being re-run and all voting members will receive new ballots.

Here are the new instructions for the correct voting procedure:

All voters must vote using the replacement ballot or via the online system. Only replacement ballots and online votes will be processed. Disregard the original ballot you received.
If you already voted using the original paper ballot, you must complete a new ballot, either by using the mailed replacement ballot or by voting online. Any of the original ballots received by the election vendor will be considered invalid.
If you choose to vote online, you may retrieve your electronic ballot by entering the election site (https://www.directvote.net/nysnanfn/) and using the member number and e-signature code shown on the top of the replacement ballot. Once you have completed the ballot please hit “Submit” for your votes to be cast.
The new election will open Dec. 30, 2010 and close on Jan. 31, 2011. Paper ballots must be postmarked by Jan. 31 and electronic ballots must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST on Jan. 31, 2011.

NYSNA members who are represented for collective bargaining will elect 16 delegates to the National Federation of Nurses (NFN) National Federation Assembly (NFA). The National Federation Assembly, the delegate body of the NFN, is elected by each state and is proportionate to the size of the state. NYSNA’s Delegates will be elected by geographic zone. Each of the 11 zones will have one NFA delegate and Zones 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will elect an additional delegate each for a total of 16 NFA delegates.
