NEW YORK NURSE: September 2010
The American Nurses Association Government Affairs team invites you to visit its new and improved “Take Action” web site for access to the latest legislative nurse advocacy tools.
The site contains regular updates from Washington on nursing’s lobby and policy priorities, such as alerts on patient safety issues, safe chemical use, and patient handling practices. You can also stay connected on key issues via e-mail when you sign up to receive regular nursing alerts from ANA to your in-box.
An enhanced Activist Toolkit is also included to help RNs make the most of contacting their congressperson. In the toolkit, you’ll have access to a synopsis of legislative priorities, tips for letter writing, and the ability to track how your representative voted on key nursing issues.
By clicking on the “Take Action Now” button in the toolkit, you will be presented with an overview of priorities, a list of bill sponsors and a letter template. Simply by filling in pre-selected fields with your contact information, you can send a message to your congressperson outlining the issues that affect patients and the nursing profession.
The ANA reminds you that “When nurses talk, Washington listens!” When it comes to our nation’s health care, nurses must be heard in the debate and have a say in the agenda. Become involved and visit Take Action at www.rnaction.org today.
