NEW YORK NURSE: January-February 2011
“Nurses are natural leaders and nurse educators supply the tools for lifelong learning that is the hallmark of the nursing profession. As a graduate of NYSNA’s Leadership Academy, I have gained a different perspective both professionally, and personally, of what it means to be a leader. When I am advising a new nurse graduate on the importance of higher learning, or being active in one’s professional association, I can speak as someone who knows firsthand the value of continuing education and staying connected with peers. I appreciate the value of developing leadership qualities and the positive impact of this experience for my role as a nurse educator. I am proud to have been chosen for NYSNA’s Leadership Academy.”
— Roxanna Raffa, MS, RN, Nursing Workforce Development Coordinator, Catskill Hudson Area Health Education Center
