NEW YORK NURSE: June 2011
“I have been a nurse since 1969, and joined NYSNA the following year. I was a little lost when I attended my first convention, but as time passed, and I kept attending each convention I got more comfortable. It has been 41 years, without a miss. I have been on many committees, and currently, I am a member of the NYSNA Council of Retired Nurses. This coming January, I will be 80 years old, and expect to continue as a member of NYSNA and attend convention for as long as I can. I have been asked many times what motivates me to keep coming and remain an active member. It is what keeps me in touch with my nursing colleagues throughout the state; it keeps me current on political agendas that effect the professional and personal lives of nurses and their patients; and, just as important, keeps me young and alive.”
