NEW YORK NURSE: March 2011
by Erin Silk
NYSNA’s annual Lobby Day has become the premiere event for reaching out to lawmakers and networking with colleagues who want to move nursing’s agenda forward. More than 2,000 RNs and nursing students – a record-setting number – attended last year’s event in April.
Because Lobby Day has become so popular, NYSNA is holding a separate lobbying workshop and event just for members on March 14-15.
Members gathered at the Crowne Plaza for a special networking dinner and participated in a lobbying workshop. Attendees learned how to gain the attention of lawmakers, present their case for legislation, and strategies for follow up after discussions. Members were then scheduled to meet with lawmakers the next day to put their lobbying knowledge to work.

NYSNA will continue to be the voice for nursing and focus on legislative issues that affect patient care and how nurses are able to deliver services.
Lobby Day attendees will be briefed on the following priorities for 2011:
Registration for Lobby Day ends April 1. Make plans to join your nurse colleagues to effect change in Albany!
