NEW YORK NURSE: January/February 2012
It is with great sadness we report the passing of longtime NYSNA member Jacqueline ‘Jacqui’ P. Burrowes, on December 31, 2011. Jacqui worked as an RN at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center (KJMC) in Brooklyn for more than 37 years and was the chairperson of the NYSNA local Bargaining Unit at KJMC since 1999. For the past five years Jacqui served as a trustee for the NYSNA Pension Plan.
Vivienne Phillips, Jacqui’s colleague and NYSNA grievance chairperson at KJMC and the NYSNA executive committee members shared the following, “Jacqui was a caring, loving and dedicated nurse, who was loved and known by her patients, co-workers and everyone who came into contact with her. She had a great passion for her profession. As an NYSNA chairperson, she courageously and tirelessly represented her nurses, to the best of her ability. She will be greatly missed and remembered by those whose lives she has touched during her time. We love and miss her dearly.”
