Patient Advocacy in Public Health Systems: Shaping Policy and Strengthening Public Sector Nurses’ Influence
This program will address how nurses can advocate for the nursing profession by coordinating nursing actions and strategies to save our safety net hospitals and improve the lives of the millions of patients who depend upon these public sector healthcare facilities. Participant nurses will discuss the necessity of joining together in coordinated concerted activities and speaking with one voice. All nurses must do their part through the use of a wide range of bargaining and lobbying opportunities creatively, and with clarity of intent, to improve our profession and influence the social and healthcare policies that address the public healthcare concerns within our communities.
6 contact hours will be awarded for this conference. In order to receive contact hours, participants are required to attend the entire session and complete an evaluation.
The New York State Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
