NYSNA Endorsed Candidates

New York City | City Council Districts | Erie County | Nassau County |
Onondaga County | Schenectady County | Suffolk County
Ulster County | Westchester County

The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) is the best public hospital system in the country. No patient is turned away, regardless of income or insurance status. Right now, that system is under attack.

We’ve seen a growing epidemic of privatization and hospital closures over the past several years, and it’s getting worse. If we do not act now, our healthcare system will continue to crumble.

Nurses care for their patients like family. That’s why we push for legislation that will protect our patients, like safe-staffing ratios. We need elected officials who will push hard too, and fight for those who don't have money, power or influence in City Hall.

Bill de Blasio has stood with us at our places of work, in the courts, and at rallies to keep hospitals open for care. He has even gone to jail to protect community hospitals. That's the kind of mayor we need.

We are up against powerful corporate interests in this election. It has never been more important for New York City nurses to vote together and protect New York City’s healthcare. That’s why on November 5th I am voting for Bill de Blasio for mayor.

ANNE BOVÉ, RN PRESIDENT, NYSNA HHC EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

There has never been a more important time for New York nurses to vote. Healthcare as we know it is changing, and fast. Public hospitals are being privatized; private hospitals are merging and cutting services; and corporations and for-profit agencies are pushing harder every year to take over healthcare and slash services to increase their profits. We are fighting for the very future of patient care.

We need to come together on November 5th to show our elected officials that we’re not going to stand for the bare minimum in patient care. They need to know that we are not for profit, we are for care. Our voices are stronger together.

Make a plan to vote on November 5th. By law you may take two hours of paid time off to vote if your work schedule prevents you from making it to the polls.

Let’s elect public officials who will stand up for our rights and enable us to fulfill our oath as nurses to care for every
patient regardless of where they live or what they can pay. Together, we can make a difference in the future of New York’s healthcare system.

MICHAEL HEALY, RN, ST. CHARLES HOSPITAL; MEMBER, NYSNA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
