By uniting and organizing together, NYSNA nurses have won serious improvements to staffing through our contracts and the law.
More nurses = better care, but healthcare facilities continue to hire and retain too few nurses to provide safe, quality care at all times. That’s why nurses and healthcare workers advocated and won groundbreaking staffing legislation in 2021 to establish safe staffing standards at all hospitals in New York and a universal 1-2 nurse-to-patient staffing ratio for critical care patients. Safe staffing saves lives.
