Nathan Littauer Hospital RNs helped spread holiday cheer - and our community message of a fair contract that protects patient care - with a float in the Johnstown Annual Classic Image Holiday Parade last Friday evening. Our rock n' roll- themed float held a giant sign that read, “NLH RNs Rock Our Patients and Our Community,” and included a tribute to fellow RN and negotiations committee member Katy Peterson, who was tragically killed last June.

Our bargaining unit has been working to build community support for our united platform that would raise patient care standards, not just at NLH, but throughout the Capital Region. Over many months of bargaining we’ve held rallies and informational pickets; we attended the hospital’s charity ball in May. We want our community to know that we have been negotiating for more than a year for a fair contract that includes safe nurse staffing and safe patient handling practices, increased community input, and fair wages that allow nurses to retire with dignity. Look for us at the next community event — because we won’t give up until we reach an agreement that protects patient care!
