REGISTERED NURSES AT ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER VOTE TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK STATE NURSES ASSOCIATION

Albany, NY --- The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) announced today that the registered nurses at Albany Medical Center have voted to join the union

The decision to join the union was ratified early Saturday morning after two days of voting on Thursday and Friday.

The vote was monitored by the National Labor Relations Board.

The historic decision comes as nurses demand:

•    A voice in staffing decisions to guarantee enough nurses are on hand to give every patient the care they need and deserve.

•    A fair wage.

•    A fair benefit plan that will help recruit and retain the best of the best.

•    A fair retirement package.

We look forward to Albany Medical Center coming to the table as soon as possible to begin contract negotiations.

In December, over 250 registered nurses at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel voted overwhelmingly to join the New York State Nurses Association.
