NYSNA Builds Support for Public Solar Power Bill in City Council
April 12, 2024
NYSNA board member Flandersia Jones, RN, lobbied on behalf of NYSNA on Thursday, April 11, in coalition with Climate Jobs NY. They lobbied City Council members at offices across City Hall. The focus was to get legislators to fully commit to Council Member Sandy Nurse’s NYC Public Solar Power Bill (Int. No. 353) that seeks to put solar power on public buildings. The bill would require the city to install 100 megawatts (MW) of solar on city buildings and schools by 2025 and 150 MW by 2030. The bill already has a great amount of support, and it continues to grow because of the advocacy and voices of workers like NYSNA nurses who are championing climate justice legislation.
