Solidarity with CIR-SEIU Resident Physicians!

NYSNA Nurses are in solidarity with NYC Health + Hospitals interns, residents, and doctors who are fighting for a fair contract. Over the last year, our union siblings have held a number of speak-outs, rallies, and other events, and NYSNA nurses are proud to have joined them in support of better working conditions, as well as safe, quality patient care for the communities they serve.

In January, CIR held a speak-out at Bellevue hospital demanding that the city settle a contract that includes fair wages. Mercedes Cruz-Gonzalez, RN, NYSNA’s labor bargaining unit president at Bellevue, spoke in support of CIR doctors and emphasized NYSNA’s commitment to showing up in solidarity with their fight until the city agrees to CIR’s demands.

In May, NYSNA nurses once again joined CIR-SEIU physicians at a speak-out in support of their fight for a fair contract that prioritizes the needs of healthcare workers. Later that month, after nine months of negotiations, CIR-SEIU members at Bellevue were finally able to reach a tentative agreement with NYC Health + Hospitals! NYSNA members are proud to have supported their efforts because a victory for our resident physicians is a victory for our nurses and patients across New York.

Congratulations, CIR-SEIU members!
