Yesterday, May 20^th, nearly 200 NYSNA nurses went to Albany to let our elected representatives know: safe staffing saves lives.

It’s what New York’s nurses give our patients every day. And it’s the subject of a major NYSNA advertising campaign rolling out this Nurse Appreciation Week.

Before she was a nurse, Christine Walthers was a professional actress on and off Broadway. So when she wrapped up a recent speech with her own rendition of "You Raise Me Up," she brought the assembled group of Capital District union members to their feet.

NYSNA RNs won a game-changing victory for patients a Olean General Hospital this week: a fair contract with safe staffing guidelines. 

On March 26, NYSNA RNs are going to Albany to tell our lawmakers to pass safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
