Nurses at Gracie Square Hospital won a new contract this month with an overwhelming majority of nurses voting in favor of ratification. The new contract addresses two major issues for nurses—safe staffing and respectful wages.

On Monday, July 31, NYSNA nurses at NYC Health + Hospitals (H+H)/ Mayorals reached a new contract with the City of New York with pay parity and safe staffing. The contract comes after months of tirelessly mobilizing, speaking out, and bargaining.

Nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Brooklyn Methodist Hospital are fighting for a fair contract that respects and retains nurses. However, NYP management refuses to deliver a contract with good wages and benefits, safe staffing, and no givebacks!

The three-day strike of more than 7,000 nurses at two NYC hospitals—Mount Sinai and Montefiore—in January 2023 ended with groundbreaking agreements on safe staffing. Both facilities improved upon existing staffing standards—in some areas exceeding California nurse-to-patient ratios.
