***MEDIA ADVISORY FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25***

MEMBERS OF NEW YORK STATE NURSES ASSOCIATION TO PARTICIPATE IN AN INFORMATIONAL PICKET AT MONTEFIORE NYACK HOSPITAL

AFTER ALMOST A YEAR OF NEGOTIATIONS, NURSES REMAIN WITHOUT CONTRACT

Nyack, NY- After their contract expired nearly a year ago and after a series of unsuccessful negotiation sessions, members of the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) at Montefiore Nyack Hospital (MNH) will participate in an informational picket on September 25.

Negotiations have been underway and include issues such as:

  • Safe Staffing issues – nurses are short staffed while treating patients in nearly all inpatient units as well as the emergency room.
  • Compensation and benefits that make it hard to hire and retain the best of the best. In fact, nurses are seeing many of their colleagues leave to go to other hospitals.

NYSNA is asking for a 3-year contract.
Nyack Hospital has rejected NYSNA’s previous proposals.
