No New Tentative Contract Agreements Reached at the Five Hospitals Slated to Strike on Jan. 9
NYSNA Nurses Trying to Head Back to Bargaining Today with Goal of Negotiating Fair Contracts that Improve Patient Care and Avert a Strike, But Bosses Cancel Some Sessions More Details Released on Tentative Agreements at Maimonides and Richmond University Medical Center
New York, NY—NYSNA will hold a press briefing today, Jan. 6 from 11:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m. with NYSNA President Nancy Hagans, RN, BSN, CCRN. This short briefing will provide an update about what is happening with contract negotiations at hospitals that will strike beginning Jan. 9 unless tentative contract agreements can be reached. There will be opportunities to ask questions.

Tentative agreements were reached late Jan. 4 at Maimonides Medical Center and Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC). Highlights of the agreements include:
Maimonides:
- Improves safe staffing ratios in several units and adds additional nursing positions
- Improves the staffing enforcement and dispute resolution process, including a new expedited arbitration procedure with remedies
- A three-year contract with annual salary increases of 7%, 6% and 5%.
- Preserves the NYSNA health benefits with no increased cost to employees.
Richmond University Medical Center:
- Safe staffing gains through restrictions on non-nursing functions
- Improves staffing enforcement with new expedited arbitration for staffing violations and a new critical staffing adjustment procedure
- A three-year contract with annual salary increases of 7%, 6% and 5%.
All tentative agreements reached at NewYork-Presbyterian, Maimonides and RUMC must be voted on and ratified by union members at each facility. Voting at Maimonides will be completed on Friday, Jan. 6, at NewYork-Presbyterian on Saturday, Jan. 7, and RUMC on Monday, Jan. 9.
