Social Justice Resources
As a union of more than 42,000 nurses and healthcare professionals, NYSNA is at the forefront of many initiatives that demand a better a healthcare system for everyone.
As committed labor and social justice organizers, we know that racism, gender inequity, and other forms of discrimination are challenges that we face in our healthcare system, our workplaces and our union work. Labor Education’s social justice workshops give our members the knowledge and tools to understand oppressive systems and the skills to interrupt oppressive moments, create more inclusive contract bargaining, and advance social justice in our union and in our communities.
The resources below are part of our social justice workshops and are available to all members who want to learn more about the history of social justice struggles and their connection to healthcare issues and the status of nursing and healthcare professions.

Racial Justice Resources
The Labor Education Department at NYSNA compiled a list of resources from their Racial Justice Workshop that help explain racial and ethnic healthcare disparities and what can be done to address them. As nurses committed to healthcare equity and fair and just working conditions, these resources shed light on how inequality was created and chart a way forward to a better and more equitable system, both in our healthcare facilities and in our union.
