NYSNA Salutes the Ebola Fighters Chosen as TIME Magazine 2014 Person of the Year
TIME magazine has just released its “2014 Person of the Year” list, and has chosen to honor the courageous healthcare professionals that are treating Ebola patients all over the world.
NYSNA salutes all of the nurses, doctors and caregivers who have cared for Ebola patients in West Africa, helping to save the lives of those who have survived and providing support to the many families who have lost love ones in this devastating epidemic. We are also proud of our dedicated members at Bellevue Hospital in New York City who cared for one of these heroes who treated Ebola patients in Guinea, Dr. Craig Spencer, who is now Ebola free.
TIME editor Nancy Gibbs said it best when explaining this year’s choice: “The rest of the world can sleep at night because a group of men and women are willing to stand and fight. For tireless acts of courage and mercy, for buying the world time to boost its defenses, for risking, for persisting, for sacrificing and saving, the Ebola fighters are TIME’s 2014 Person of the Year.”
