Fighting for good paying jobs in West Virginia
We stand together with our 1,400 union brothers and sisters at the Communication Workers of America (CWA), who are on strike in West Virginia fighting for fairer contracts and better treatment. After 10 months of negotiations with Frontier Communications, an agreement for a new contract with CWA 142 has yet to be reached. Frontier Communications workers will be picketing throughout the state for a new contract that treats workers fairly and stops the bleeding of good union jobs from West Virginia communities. The telecommunications company has cut more than 500 jobs since 2010. Meanwhile, customer complaints to the West Virginia Public Service Commission have increased by nearly 69% from 2014 to 2017.
As nurses, we know all too well the burden of an ever-increasing workload with steadily decreasing levels of support, resources and staff. This is a fight that must be fought to protect the middle class and display our resolve for better treatment for all workers. Just as CWA has stood with NYSNA, we stand in solidarity with our CWA counterparts and our shared commitment to advocate for working families. We are strongest when we are united.
