NYSNA nurses and healthcare workers have expressed tremendous solidarity with our union siblings at Mercy Hospital, who were on strike for nearly a month in October 2021. More than 2,000 CWA healthcare workers in Buffalo including nurses, techs, transport, environmental and dietary workers struck in protest of unsafe staffing conditions. Erie County Medical Center NYSNA members consistently showed up to walk the picket line in solidarity with CWA members. NYSNA members fought alongside CWA members because we know firsthand that healthcare workers deserve a fair contract and patients deserve safe staffing. This unity paid off: CWA members won a contract that substantially improves staffing and provides the benefits needed to attract and retain caregiving staff. We are always ready to support our union family’s fight for respect and dignity at work.
