The New York State Nurses Association today applauded Gov. Kathy Hochul and Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker for designating COVID-19 a highly contagious communicable disease under the State’s HERO Act.

In response to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement mandating all healthcare workers in New York receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by September 27, the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) today issued the following statement.

Drawing upon their experience on the frontlines battling the virus, NYSNA, representing more than 42,000 registered nurses across New York state, restated support for the recommendation for vaccination as vital, but underscored that it is not the only piece of the puzzle to end COVID-19.

In response to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC)’s revised Mask Guidance for Vaccinated Persons, the NYSNA Board of Directors released the following statement.
